Taiwan Bamboo Orchestra (TBO) is the first pure bamboo orchestra established in Taiwan, under the leadership of Mr. Luo Zhengtao. It consists of a group of young performers who are experienced in performing arts, and released the debut album "Voice of Bamboo" in September 2014.
Using a wealth of bamboo percussion instruments and traditional bamboo instruments, under the guidance of Professor Wu Si-yin, the orchestra consultant, the Orchestra has designed and developed a number of bamboo musical instruments, such as treble bamboo organ, Ding Dong organ, square box organ and square organ, all of which are new instruments developed successfully in recent years. In addition to domestic performances, the Taiwan Bamboo Orchestra has been invited to perform overseas and their performances were well received. The performances include the Philippines international gongs and bamboo festival, Malaysia Sabah bamboo festival, the Japanese Seto Inland Sea Art Season, South Korea World Bamboo Art Fair, Indonesia bamboo trekking and Hong Kong Pacific Place. The Bamboo Orchestra are using instruments composed of bamboo materials as an emerging form of orchestra in recent years. The rapid growth of bamboos, the short rotation period, and sustainable utilization for environmental protection and low energy consumption has made another name for the Bamboo Orchestra, the "Green Orchestra" or "Ecological Orchestra."
