Pingtung bamboo farmer Wang Kun-yi


Pingtung bamboo farmer Wang Kunyi, now living in Yanpu Township of Pingtung County. He is grown up in mountains and forests of Kaohsiung and Pingtung, and has first-hand experience in harvesting operation of bamboo and observing the organic and non-toxic plants and flowers. He is highly experienced in plant diseases and is often consulting with foreign experts on the subject. Investing in safe flowers and non-toxic plants for many years, he insisted on natural farming methods without pesticides and biological agents, and his current supply of bamboo leaves (“Mazhu and Cizhu bamboo for extraction is about 3 tons per year.

Kaohsiung and Pingtung have prolific Cizhu bamboo and Mazhu bamboo, which are the source of Featured product of bamboo leaves. The scientific name for Cizhu bamboo is Bambusa stenostachya, with the British name of Thorny Bamboo, and its extraction contains 4.98% benzene which is rich in flavonoids. Its juvenile face was gray-green color, with milk yellow vertical stripes, golden yellow on stalks and branches internodes, then changing from orange color into dark green vertical stripe, known as "Lin's bamboo", in memory of Mr. Lin Weifang of the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute.
